Set up your listing, then turn views into enquiries

Everything you need to get live on The Knotline and get the most from it. You can set it all up in one sitting, and every change saves as you go.

Getting started

Logging in

Straight after you pay, you are logged in to your dashboard automatically. After that, go to theknotline.co.uk/login and enter the email you paid with. We email you a link that logs you straight in. There is no password to remember, and each link works once.

When you go live

Your listing appears in search as soon as you have added your business postcode and chosen your category. There is no waiting for approval. Any change you make shows on your public page within about a minute.

Tip. The checklist in the Your plan box at the top of your dashboard shows what is left to do. Work through it once and your listing is complete.

2

Your listing, step by step

In the order we suggest doing it. Each step matches a box in your dashboard.

  1. Add your business postcode

In Business details. Your postcode decides which area you are listed in, automatically. It is never shown publicly: your page shows a map of your postcode district, not your address. Venues are the exception and show their exact location, since couples need to find them.

If your area is not open yet, you will be listed there automatically the day it opens. Cover more than one area? Get in touch and we can add you to others.

  2. Choose your category

In Categories. Each listing appears under one category, and you can switch it at any time. Pick the one couples would search for to find you. If you want to appear in a second category as well, see more than one listing.

  3. Upload your photos

In Photos. Up to 10, in JPG or PNG. Large photos are shrunk automatically so your page loads fast on a phone. The first photo is your main photo. Use Make main and the arrows to change the order, and add a short description to each if you like.

  4. Write about your business

In Business details, up to 2,000 characters. Say what you do, what makes you different and where you work. Leave a blank line between paragraphs so it is easy to read.

  5. Add your prices

In Pricing guide, up to 12. Tick Starting from for anything that varies. Your first price is shown on your search card as your "From" price, so put your headline package first.

  6. Link your reviews

In Reviews. Choose where your reviews are, such as Google or Trustpilot, paste the link, and enter your rating and number of reviews. We check the rating against that page before it shows. Until then, your page links to your reviews without the rating. Changing your rating means we check it again.

  7. Pick your highlights and post an offer

In Highlights, tick up to 6 that are true of your business, like "Free initial consultation" or "Fully insured". They show on your page.

In Offer for Knotline couples, you can post one short offer, like "10% off full-day packages", with optional small print. It shows on your search card and at the top of your page until you remove it, and you must honour it for couples who enquire while it shows.

  8. Add your contact and social links

In Contact and social. Enquiries from couples go to your enquiry email, which is never shown on the site, and neither is your phone number. For Instagram and TikTok you can type just your handle, like @yourbusiness.

Getting more enquiries

What couples see first, and what makes them get in touch.

Your first five photos are your shop window

Your search card shows your first five photos, and couples swipe through them before they ever open your page. Lead with your strongest, most typical work. Listings with photos are shown above listings without them.

Always show a price

Your "From" price sits on your search card, and couples can sort and filter by budget. When they filter, suppliers with no price drop out of the results. A realistic starting price brings enquiries from couples who can afford you.

Make your first sentence count

Your search card shows the first 140 or so characters of your description. Open with what you do and who for, not "Welcome to our page".

Post an offer

An offer shows as a gold strip on your search card, and couples can filter to see only suppliers with one. Something simple and specific works best, and it only has to be worth mentioning, not a big discount.

Get your rating verified

A verified rating shows on your card and your page, and couples can sort by rating. Link your reviews early so we can check it.

Reply the same day

Couples usually message several suppliers at once. Enquiries arrive by email and are listed in your dashboard. Press Reply to answer by email, and the first thoughtful reply often wins the booking.

Watch your numbers

Your last 30 days shows profile views, enquiries and how many viewers got in touch. Lots of views but few enquiries usually means your photos or prices need work. Few views usually means your main photo is not catching the eye in search.

Annual listings appear first

On the annual plan, your listing is shown ahead of monthly listings in your category, carries a Featured badge, and appears when couples filter to Featured suppliers. You can switch to annual from your dashboard at any time.

Plans and billing

Managing your plan

Press Manage billing and card details in your dashboard to switch between monthly and annual, update your card, download invoices or cancel. Payments are handled securely by Stripe.

If a payment fails

Stripe tries again over the following days, and your listing stays live while it does. Your dashboard will show "Live, payment overdue" until it goes through, so update your card as soon as you can.

If you cancel

Your listing stays live until the end of the period you have paid for, then comes down. Nothing further is taken. If you come back within a year with the same email, you get your old listing back, photos and all.

Spotlight

Spotlight puts your listing in the one large card at the top of your category in your area, with more photos, your highlights and a direct enquiry button. There is one Spotlight place per category, per area, each month, first come, first served. It costs £100 a month, and the current month is half price from the 16th.

In your dashboard, open Spotlight, tick the months you want (up to 12 months ahead), and pay for them together by card. Taken months are greyed out. If you have more than one listing, you can add months for each to the same basket.

Spotlight needs a live plan. If your plan ends, your Spotlight months end with it and aren't refunded. While you have months booked, your category and area are locked for that listing.

More than one listing

Each plan covers one listing in one category. To list a second business, or to appear in another category with its own profile, press Add another listing in your dashboard and choose a plan. Pay with the same email and it appears in your dashboard alongside the first, with a menu at the top to switch between them.

Common questions

Why can't I see my listing in search?

Check your dashboard says Live, that you have added your postcode and chosen a category, and that your area is open. The notes under Your plan tell you if anything is missing.

Why isn't my rating showing?

We have not checked it yet. Once we have, it shows on your card and your page. If you change it, it goes back to waiting until we check again.

Can I change my business name?

Yes, in Business details. Your page's web address stays the same, so any links you have already shared keep working.

Do my own visits count as views?

No. Views only count visitors who are not logged in, and each visitor counts once a day.

Do you take a cut of bookings?

No. You pay your subscription and keep every penny of the work that comes through. We never sell your enquiries on.

My listing says Paused

We have hidden it from couples, usually because something needs checking. Contact us and we will sort it out.
